Washington Co. Teachers Have Tentative Contract

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) ―

The Washington County school board and the teachers union have reached a tentative agreement on a 3-year contract.

The contract includes 2 percent pay raises for each of the next two years. The raise in the third year would be determined after future negotiations.

Teachers would also receive a step increase in each of the three years.

The contract must be approved by teachers and the school board and would take effect July 1.

Starting salaries for teachers with bachelors degrees would rise to more than $42,800 in the next school year and more than $43,600 in the following year.
