Verizon, Attorney General Team Up To Protect Kids
BALTIMORE (WJZ) ―
Equipping kids for the world starts now as they enter the World Wide Web at younger and younger ages.
Pat Warren reports parents are getting some help from Verizon and the state attorney general.
The sound effects of a computer game can tell you it's child's play. But there's another game played on the Internet that is silent and predatory.
"Has anybody been on Myspace before?" said Attorney General Doug Gansler.
Gansler is teaming up with Verizon in a partnership for a child-safe Internet.
Parents and schools are also realizing it's a dangerous world out there.
"We have filters in place and we try to safeguard in terms of positive actions as to what we try to do to prevent students from getting to certain locations that they don't belong to," said Michael Pitroff with Baltimore City Schools.
Verizon also contributed $5,000 to Enterprise Community Partners for additional safety forums in Maryland.
