Middle Schoolers Caught Drinking At Md. School

DERWOOD, Md. (AP) ―

Montgomery County Police say nine students at Redland Middle School in Derwood were caught drinking alcohol on campus.

Police say two girls and a boy brought alcohol from home and shared it with six other students. They say the students put vodka, wine, tequila, and rum in water bottles and soft drink bottles and mixed in fruit juices.

The educational facilities officer was alerted around 7:40 a.m. Wednesday after students told the principal that a group of students were drinking alcohol in the gymnasium.

Police issued alcohol citations to eight seventh graders, including five girls and three boys, and one sixth grade boy. The student were released to their parents' custody.
