Turner Nelson's body may have been recovered over the weekend.
The body of a child was discovered Saturday morning just about a mile away from the Key Bridge.
Mike Schuh reports the body is believed to be that of a three-year-old whose father confessed to tossing the child over the bridge in February.
Turner Nelson's mother Natisha Johnson was called by police, and now it appears that her five-month long nightmare has entered its final chapter.
It was determined by investigators prior to a press conference Saturday that the the body was Turner's.
"The remains were found in the waters just off the Seagirt Marine Terminal in the Patapsco River," said Cpl. Jonathan Green with Maryland Transportation Authority Police.
At the Seagirt Terminal, located in Dundalk, a fisherman or a boater saw the body and called 911.
"The age of the subject recovered was consistent with the age of the individual that we were conducting our investigation," said Green.
On Feb. 3, Super Bowl Sunday, Turner's father Stephen told police that he threw the boy off the Key Bridge, then he tried to commit suicide.
His family held out faint hope that the toddler somehow was alive.
"I have comfort in knowing that if your father did do this to you, that you didn't suffer. You didn't know what was going on. God took your spirit and your soul to heaven before you ever hit the water," said Johnson during a memorial service.
Charging documents in the case show that Stephen Nelson was distraught at the breakup of his marriage, saying that he didn't want to see his child raised by another man.
Nelson is awaiting his July 29 trial for first-degree murder and first-degree child abuse resulting in a death.
