Towson & Baltimore Hebrew Discuss Partnership

TOWSON, Md. (AP) ― Officials at both schools say Baltimore Hebrew University is in talks to become part of Towson University.

Towson President Robert Caret says the partnership would be a good move for both schools, by bringing an established program into a university with a growing presence in the Jewish community.

Baltimore Hebrew University chairman Jonathan Lowenberg says the 90-year-old school would keep its identity under a potential agreement with Towson. Baltimore Hebrew has seen its enrollment fall by two-thirds during the past 14 years. Lowenberg says rumors about the school's future have made recruiting difficult.
