Man Pleads Guilty In Theft Scheme

ELLICOTT CITY, Md. (AP) ― A man has pleaded guilty to a theft scheme greater than $500 in a plot in which he stole more than $80,000 from his employer.

Timothy Shipe, 43, of Havre de Grace took money from recycling metal furniture while working as a manager in the Hunt Valley office of Kane Co. Office Movers of Elkridge.

According to a written statement read in court, Shipe told Officer Movers drivers to take furniture to a scrap recycling company and then give him the cash. More than $80,000 in cash was given to drivers who reported to Shipe between January 2004 and August 2006. None of the that money was given to the corporate office, according to prosecutors.

Shipe pleaded guilty Tuesday in Howard County Circuit Court.

Sentencing is set for Sept. 18.
