'The Color Purple' Comes To Baltimore's Hippodrome

BALTIMORE (WJZ) ― From Broadway to the Hippodrome Theatre, "The Color Purple" has come to Baltimore.

Richard Sher reports the play is being called the "unforgettable and inspiring story of a woman named Celie who finds the strength to triumph over adversity, and discover her unique voice in the world."

Angela Robinson plays the sexy and seductive singer/dancer, Shug Avery.

"It's very suspenseful. You basically don't know what's going to happen next. If you want to have a great artistic experience, this is the place you want to come," said Robinson.

Rufus Bonds, Jr, plays Mister.

"'The Color Purple" is not just for African Americans. It is for all of us because we are all the same when we close our eyes," said Bonds.

"The Color Purple" is in Baltimore now through May 18 at the Hippodrome. For ticket information call 410-547-SEAT.
