2 Teens Found After Catonsville Kidnapping

CATONSVILLE, Md. (WJZ) ―

Lost then found, two teenage boys are back with their family days after they were kidnapped.

Mike Schuh reports police are saying very little about where the teens were.

A statewide Amber Alert has been canceled for Sterling and Stephon Blackwell who reported to Baltimore County Police around 3:15 p.m. Friday. They were accompanied by a relative.

It was in a rented home in Catonsville where 15-year-old Sterling Blackwell and 16-year-old Stephon Blackwell were kidnapped at 3 a.m. Tuesday.

Six armed, masked men arrived in a Chevy Suburban, entered the home and bound the teens' mother and seven other adults with duct tape.

Someone in their family knew their whereabouts and called police at 2:45 p.m. Friday.

The two boys were separated for questioning.

"The two teenagers that were taken in a kidnapping on Tuesday are now with police here at our building, and we are talking to them. Detectives are talking to them trying to figure out exactly just what happened," said Cpl. Mike Hill with the Baltimore County Police.

At their home on Tuesday, most of the other victims were uncooperative.

"We're hoping that we do get some cooperation from them and we do learn exactly what has happened and where they've been and frankly what they've been doing," said Hill.

The feds want to know too. Both young men have extensive juvenile arrest records.

"This is an ongoing investigation. And what we're trying to find out now is what are the circumstances. I can't answer for whether this was legitimate or not," said Hill.

With the Blackwells safe, attention has now turned to the dozens of crimes committed on Tuesday.

"Now thankfully we have solved a relative kidnapping investigation by the fact that we have these two teenagers. They are alive, safe and well, but now we are just trying to get on with the business of investigating the rest of these crimes. We have a home invasion, we have an alleged sexual assault, and we have the rest of the kidnapping investigation itself," said Hill.

Once the questioning was over, the boys were free to go.

Police say this was not a random event, and the family is familiar with the culprits. They say the family was targeted.
