O'Malley Voices Support For Del. Wind Farm Project

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) ― Gov. Martin O'Malley says he supports a wind farm off the coast of Delaware that could eventually extend to the waters off Ocean City.

The proposed 200-turbine project 11 miles off Rehoboth Beach would be the United States' first offshore wind energy project and Maryland's support could be crucial to the project. The Delaware project and the possibility of turbines off Ocean City were discussed at a work session of the Ocean City town council on Tuesday.

O'Malley says he spoke with Delaware's Lt. Gov. John Carney at a National Governors' Association conference over the weekend and expressed his willingness to have Maryland participate in the Bluewater Wind project.
