Mourners attended a viewing Tuesday for a bride-to-be killed in a fatal crash in East Baltimore the night of her bachelorette party.
A bridesmaid in the limo as it overturned told
Suzanne Collins she leased it so no one would be hurt on that very special night.
Two women are grieving, looking at pictures taken Friday night of their friend at her bachelorette party. They were with the seven women in the limo when a truck struck it and killed the bride-to-be, Sunshine Royston.
"That's all she did was brought sunshine to everyone's life. Her face when you saw her, you just lit up," said Brandi Ragan.
Police are still investigating the crash on Monument Street to decide if the truck driver will be charged.
The women say they were happy after leaving Power Plant. They were heading home in the limo when it turned into a night of horror.
"They had to cut me and my sister out and she just had my head on her chest and was rubbing it and saying everything was going to be OK, we were going to make it," Ragan said.
"All of a sudden, bam. I just remember closing my eyes and getting tossed all over the place and hearing screaming, crumpling and glass shattering," said Shannon Hoopes.
Ragan was Sunshine's best friend. She's badly bruised and taking medication for back pain, but says she isn't thinking about herself. Because she is so grief-stricken, she says she questions God's plan.
"He just took her away," she said. "It's just not fair."
Royston leaves behind three children and a fiance from Pennsylvania who says she was the love of his life.
"Her life was just all coming together. All the pieces were just starting to fit," Ragan said.
The wedding would have been at an Episcopal church in Dundalk on Saturday. Instead, there is a funeral there on Thursday for Royston.
Once she is laid to rest, her friend says she will do all she can to help the children and help them know the wonderful mother they lost.
Police say in fatal accidents such as this, it can take a month before they decide whether they will place charges.
A memorial fund has been set up for Sunshine Royston's children. Donations can be made at any Bank of America.
