Cleanup Continues Following Friday's Twisters

FINKSBURG, Md. (WJZ) ― It has been three days, but people are still cleaning up from Friday's tornadoes.

Those twisters hit Frederick County and Carroll County early Friday afternoon.

Derek Valcourt reports one of the hardest hit areas is in Finksburg, Carroll County. Dozens of homes have been either destroyed or condemned, and all people could do during the storms was watch Mother Nature's fury.

"I turned to close the garage door from the house and I couldn't close it," Karen Tehansky said. "[The winds] blew me to the ground."

Tehansky, who lives in Finksburg, is now wearing a cast on her wrist; the impact from the fall caused several hairline fractures.

Tehansky and her family will be kept out of their home for a few months, as there are several large holes in the roof.

Meteorologist Bernadette Woods reports a total of 10 counties have been under a tornado warning in the past few days -- stretching from Allegany to Somerset counties.
