CBS Radio Launches Baltimore's FM Sports Station

BALTIMORE (AP) ―

A new radio format debuted Monday on 105.7 featuring an array of popular Baltimore personalities and programming unique to the market.

The new SPORTS RADIO 105.7 THE FAN, available on-air and online at is highlighted by compelling local sports coverage delivered by Ed Norris, Mark Viviano, Bruce Cunningham, Scott Garceau and Anita Marks, among others, and includes play-by-play coverage of the Baltimore Orioles and the University of Maryland Terrapins.

Norris will anchor the station serving as host of the morning show (5:30-10:00 a.m.). Dave Labrozzi, CBS RADIO Baltimore's Vice President of Programming, said, "We took the most dynamic talk personality in all of Baltimore and moved him to the biggest radio stage-morning drive."

Norris joined the station in 2005 and most recently was host of the highly rated afternoon drive program. During the past three years, Norris has entertained and educated radio listeners with his unique perspective on Baltimore and Maryland. Prior to joining the station, Norris served as Baltimore City Police Commissioner and Maryland State Police Superintendent.

"We are thrilled to be offering Baltimore sports fans, for the first time ever, sports radio on a crystal-clear FM signal, strong enough to be heard anywhere in the market," said Robert Philips, Senior Vice President and Market Manager for CBS RADIO Baltimore.

The weekday programming line-up on SPORTS RADIO 105.7 THE FAN is as follows:

5:30 a.m.- 10 a.m. Ed Norris (topical conversation including sports information)

10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Mark Viviano & the Bulldog (Damon Yaffe)

1 p.m. - 3 p.m. Bruce Cunningham

3 p.m. - 6 p.m. Scott Garceau and Anita Marks

6 p.m. - 8 p.m. player shows, hosted by Baltimore Ravens players

8 p.m. -11 p.m.  Playmakers with Ken Weinman

In a related announcement, 1300AM will focus exclusively on the best national sports stories, commentaries and debates, complementing 105.7 FM's local sports coverage. The ESPN affiliate station's line-up includes:

6 a.m. -10 a.m. Mike & Mike in the Morning

10 a.m. -1 p.m. the Herd (Colin Cowherd)

1 p.m. - 3 p.m. Mike Tirico and Scott Van Pelt

3 p.m. - 4 p.m. Scott Van Pelt

4 p.m. -7 p.m. Sports Nation

7 p.m. - midnight Game Night

"With wall-to-wall sports programming on AM and FM radio, we can now offer Baltimore sports fans the ultimate package," said Dave Labrozzi. "No topic will go uncovered. No perspective will go unchallenged."

SPORTS RADIO 105.7 THE FAN and BALTIMORE'S ESPN RADIO 1300AM will utilize the call letters WJZ-FM and WJZ-AM, respectively. The stations are owned and operated by CBS RADIO, one of the largest major-market radio operators in the United States. A division of CBS Corporation, CBS RADIO operates 140 radio stations, the majority of which are in the nation's top 50 markets. CBS RADIO also owns and operates WLIF, WWMX and WQSR in Baltimore.
