Slippery Roads Cause Minor Accidents

BALTIMORE (WJZ) ― Winter arrives early in Baltimore as snow blankets the city--at least for a little while.

Kai Jackson reports on the problems the wintry weather caused.

The precipitation was light, but the temperature was low and that proved to be a dangerous combination on area roads.

Eyewitness News cameras were on icy Joppa Road when three different accidents happened in a matter of minutes on the same stretch of the road.

"We did. We drove in from Severna Park, and it took like 45 minutes.  It was bit of traffic, but I am not sure if it was traffic because of the inclement weather, which really is not inclement weather, or if it is the Friday night traffic," said Gayle Travis-Keene.

Snow fell in Maryland Friday night, pushed by powerful gusting winds. The accumulation was minimum. But as the snow fell, the temperature dropped, and that seemed to be the problem.

The wintry mix covered some area roads with thin sheets of ice that made driving conditions dangerous.

"It has been a little icy at times and certain places, so be careful everyone," said Brian Levittan, driver.

So far, there have been no reports of serious accidents.
