Secretary Of State Releases Slots Ballot Language
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) ―
Maryland's secretary of state has submitted ballot language for two constitutional amendments that will go before voters in November: the legalization of slot machines and early voting.
For the slot machine gambling question, voters will be asked whether they want to authorize the state to issue up to five licenses for up to 15,000 slot machines.
Secretary of State John McDonough says he decided to add the words "slot machines" in parentheses to clarify the question to voters. The devices are referred to in legislation as video lottery terminals.
The ballot language has been forwarded to the State Board of Elections.
