Gov. Martin O'Malley has appointed the president of the Greater Baltimore Committee to head a state commission on slot machine licensing.
Donald Fry is the first appointment to the seven-member commission.
Fry has been the head of the Greater Baltimore Committee for six years. The committee is an organization of business and civic leaders.
O'Malley will appoint two more members to the slot machine commission. The Senate president and House speaker will each make two appointments.
Slot machines were approved by voters in November. Up to 15,000 slot machines will be allowed at five locations in Maryland.
