Monrovia Father Charged In Son's Shooting

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) ―

A Monrovia man has been charged with three counts of reckless endangerment for allegedly leaving loaded firearms in reach of his three children, one of whom was wounded in an accidental shooting.

Each of the misdemeanor counts against Richard Donato carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.

The charges filed in Frederick County Circuit Court stem from a Dec. 26 incident in which Donato's 5-year-old son, Charles, was shot in the leg when he reached under a sofa cushion at home and touched a 9-millimeter pistol, causing it to fire.
