Earleville Man Sentenced In Fatal Shooting

ELKTON, Md. (AP) ―

An Earleville man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for a fatal shooting.

Raymond Lupfer, 31, was convicted of second-degree murder, assault and a handgun crime in April and was sentenced Friday.

Prosecutors say he shot and killed Jeremy Yarbray, 20, of Dover, Del., one year ago this month in North East. Lupfer had claimed the gun accidentally fired as the two men were fighting for it.

During his sentencing, Lupfer apologized in court to Yarbray's family. Prosecutors say Lupfer was on probation for a separate assault conviction when he killed Yarbray.
