Mitchell Won't Take Shots At Dixon

BALTIMORE (AP) ―

Sheila Dixon's opponent in last year's Baltimore mayoral primary is refusing to take shots at the mayor despite a high-profile bribery probe.

Former City Councilman Keiffer Mitchell says that Dixon has done a good job as mayor and that the investigation has created "a cloud" over her work.

Investigators with the state prosecutor's office raided Dixon's home last month.

Court documents show that prosecutors are looking into whether Dixon took bribes from developer Ron Lipscomb while the two were involved in a personal relationship.

Mitchell did say that reform of City Hall spending practices is needed.

He says the size of the Board of Estimates should be reduced from five to three so the mayor has fewer appointees.
