Arrests Made After Barber Student's Stabbing
BALTIMORE (WJZ) ―
One suspect remains on the loose a week after a student is nearly killed for his cell phone and baseball cap.
Mary Bubala has the latest on the search.
Police have arrested two suspects and search for a third in the attack that left Shannon Dudley in critical but stable condition. It's what Dudley's mother calls a senseless attack that almost took her only son's life.
Corey Woodhams and Charles Calloway are charged with the attempted murder and first-degree assault of 23-year-old Shannon Dudley last week.
"It's just senseless. They didn't read. It says right there this area's under surveillance. He always told me he felt comfortable because he knew it was cameras right there," said Tilithea Ransome, Dudley's mother.

Eyewitness News say Dudley was changing buses on his way home from barber school when several men approached him near Baltimore and Charles Streets. A witness says they surrounded Dudley, taking his cell phone, umbrella and a baseball cap. He yelled, `What are you doing?' as the suspects ran away, then fell to the ground with a robbery-related stab wound to the heart.
"Yes, robbery and attempted murder charges have been charged against the two individuals here," said Margaret Burns, spokesperson for the city state's attorney.
A witness told police Woodhams and Calloway kept Dudley's personal effects as they fled the scene on foot. Both men were seen running into a subway station just up the street.
Security cameras allegedly took pictures of Woodhams and Calloway running through turnstiles and taking a train. Cell phone records show both suspects used his phone. Both were arrested at Calloway's Carey Street home.
Police declined on-camera interviews but say both men admitted taking Dudley's property, but denied stabbing him in spite of the fact that the knife involved allegedly belonged to Calloway. Police confirm they are searching for a third suspect.
"It's good to know they're locked up. It's good to know that they got them," Ransome said.
Police say they aren't ruling out any motive, including a possible connection to gang activity. There is no word on the status of the search for the third suspect.
