22-Year-Old In Critical Condition After Stabbing

BALTIMORE (WJZ) ― A man is recovering after being stabbed in downtown Baltimore. Now, police are on a manhunt.

Mary Bubala
has the latest on his condition.

Shannon Dudley, 22, is in critical condition after a brutal stabbing leaves his family on the sidelines as he struggles for his life.

Dudley was a barber in training. He was set to graduate this week from Avara's Academy of Hair Design.  That all changed Tuesday night near Charles and Baltimore Streets in downtown Baltimore, while Dudley was transferring buses to head to Towson.

"At some point he was accosted and attacked. During the attack, he sustained a stab wound," said mother Tilithea Ransome. "He's fighting for his life.  He's holding on right now and we're taking it one hour at a time."

The knife pierced Dudley's heart, leaving him in critical condition.

Dudley's mother knows the obstacles he faces.  But for now, a brief moment in her son's hospital room is enough to keep her going.

"He opened his eyes and so that was hope for me.  I'm taking one hour at a time," said Ransome.

Police say they don't know whether this was a robbery attempt or what. They are still looking at possible motives.

Police are asking anyone who may have any information on this stabbing to call police.
