Police Search For Man Who Sexually Assualted Woman

ELLICOTT CITY, Md. (WJZ) ― Howard County Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a man who broke into an Ellicott City home and sexually assaulted and robbed a female resident. Detectives are warning the public to be especially vigilant about keeping doors and windows locked at all times.

This week, a woman came forward to report that she was attacked in her home in the Wheatfield community around 2 a.m. Nov. 9. She said she was reluctant to come forward, fearing that the man might return. Despite her fear, she contacted police late Wednesday to make the report. The woman, who is an adult, will not be identified.

The woman reported that she awoke to a man standing next to her bed. As she tried to sit up, the man shocked her with an electronic control device, like a Taser, and demanded money. The woman gave him money from her wallet. He then sexually assaulted the woman by forcing her to perform a sex act. The victim believes the suspect left through the front door. It was later determined that a basement window was ajar and the phone line had been cut.

The suspect is described as a male of unknown race, 20-30 years of age, approximately 5'07" to 5'08" with a thin to medium build, and medium to dark skin tone. He was wearing a dark-colored ski mask, dark sweatpants or jogging pants, white socks, no shoes, and light-colored work gloves.

Police are offering a reward of up to $2,000 in this case. Anyone with information is urged to call police at 410-313-3200. Residents in the Wheatfield community--which is bordered by Long Gate Parkway, Rt. 103 and Rt. 100--who see someone suspicious should call 911.
