Girl Attacks Classmate With Razor At Lanham School

LANHAM, Md. (AP) ―

Prince George's County school officials say a student slashed another girl with a razor and accidentally cut herself in a hallway at DuVal High School in Lanham.

County schools spokesman John White says the injuries to the freshman girls were not life threatening. Classes remain in session, and no other students were involved in the Monday morning fight.

White says both girls are being treated at a hospital. Authorities are investigating and may file charges.

White says they believe the razor was a box cutter. He says razors are banned in school buildings, and such an incident could lead to expulsion.

School officials will send a letter home to parents about the incident, asking them to talk with their children about any tensions that could lead to conflicts.
