Ex-Prince George's Schools Head To Be Sentenced
GREENBELT, Md. (AP) ―
Former Prince George's County schools superintendent Andre Hornsby is scheduled to be sentenced Tuesday for his convictions on wire fraud, witness and evidence tampering and obstruction of justice.
The convictions arose from an alleged scheme to cause the county school system to award contracts to benefit close associates and himself. Hornsby initially faced 22 charges. A federal jury acquitted him of two charges and deadlocked on 14.
Hornsby served as head of Maryland's second largest school district from 2003 until 2005.
He will be sentenced by U.S. District Judge Peter Messittee.
