Officer Hit During Traffic Stop In Salisbury

SALISBURY, Md. (AP) ―

Police in Salisbury have arrested a man they say hit an officer in the leg while trying to flee a traffic stop.

It happened around 2 p.m. Sunday when the officer pulled the man over for a traffic violation near First Street in west Salisbury.

Police say the man, whose name has not been released, tried to flee in his vehicle, but he hit the officer in the leg and then slammed into a pole.

That's when police say the driver jumped out to run, but he was caught by several officers.

Salisbury City Police Lt. Gene Powell says police expect to charge the man with multiple violations.
