2 Suspects In Shooting & Barricade Still At Large

ROSEDALE, Md. (WJZ) ― There was chaos in eastern Baltimore County Friday, causing several schools to be locked down after a shooting and a barricade in Rosedale.

Jessica Kartalija reports police say two of the suspects are still on the loose.

They say a home invasion early Friday morning caused a series of events that led to a standoff in front of the wrong house.

Around 9:20 a.m. at 18 Tameron Place, police say two men broke into a home and demanded money.

"Got in a fight with the man who was inside. He resisted. They were demanding money, he fought. There was some sort of struggle. The gun went off. It was one of the suspects' gun. [The man in the house] was shot in the neck. It was non-life threatening injuries. They then ran," said Bill Toohey, Baltimore County Police.

Witnesses say they saw two men fitting the suspects' descriptions enter a juvenile group home three blocks away, in the 6600-block of Golden Ring Rd.

When police arrived at the home, the people inside refused to come out, prompting the closure of several nearby streets for a time.

"As it turns out, the people in that group home had absolutely nothing to do with this. So although the witness was trying to be helpful, the information turned out not to be very useful," said Toohey.

After a two-hour standoff, one man was arrested, but that suspect's connection to the shooting is still unclear.

Schools in the area were placed on alert status.  Golden Ring Middle, Shady Spring Elementary, Red House Run Elementary, McCormick Elementary and Overlea High were affected.

The elementary schools and Golden Ring Middle were supposed to dismiss three hours early, but police asked them to delay dismissal. Overlea was not scheduled for early dismissal.

Parents were asked to wait to pick up their children at the end of the day.

Police say the rainy weather may have hampered the investigation because drivers were paying closer attention to the roads than their surroundings.
