Protesters Call For Reforms In PG County

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) ― More than two dozen people attended a protest Friday at the Prince George's County jail, demanding reform in the county's criminal justice system following the death of an inmate accused in a police officer's death.

Protesters say the death of Ronnie L. White was a breakdown of due process for him, his family and his alleged victim, Cpl. Richard Findley, a county police officer.

White was found strangled in his maximum security cell Sunday, a day after he was charged in the hit-and-run death of Findley.

Dorothy Elliott, whose says her son was killed in police custody in 1993, attended the rally along with members of her group, People's Coalition for Police Accountability.

She says the same concerns surrounding her son's death continue. She questions how someone can be killed inside a jail.

State police are investigating, and the FBI is conducting a review to determine if White's civil rights were violated.
