Prosecutors Will Seek Life Sentence In Killing

ELKTON, Md. (AP) ― State prosecutors have filed notice that they will seek a life sentence without the possibility of parole for a 15-year-old accused of killing a pregnant woman.

Prosecutors filed the notice Thursday in Cecil County Circuit Court. Also on Thursday, a judge denied a request to have Robert Ervin Jr.'s first-degree murder moved to juvenile court.

Ervin is accused of raping and fatally stabbing Jennifer Thompson in her home in July.

Police claim Ervin attacked Thompson, who was five months pregnant, during an argument that began when she asked him to leave her townhouse.

Ervin continues to be held in the Cecil County Detention Center without bond.
