Police Search For Attempted Robbery Suspect

ARBUTUS, Md. (WJZ) ― Baltimore County police are searching for a suspect in an attempted armed robbery at a Mars Store in Arbutus.



Authorities tell WJZ that a suspect attempted to rob the store in the 1000-block of Maiden Choice Lane.



Police say gunfire was exchanged between the suspect and a security guard.


The suspect was hit but the security guard was uninjured.

The male suspect fled in his own vehicle despite suffering from the gunshot wound.

The suspect's car has since been recovered.

Authorities say there is evidence that the suspect is bleeding due to the gunshot wound.

Police describe the suspect as a young African-American male, 6'1, medium build, who was wearing a dark shirt, jeans, and dark glasses.

Authorities have been searching for the suspect between the area of I-695 and Wilkens Avenue on the ground, and in the air using the police helicopter.
