White Marsh Burglar Uses Ladder To Rob Homes

WHITE MARSH, Md. (AP) ―

Baltimore County Police look for robbery suspect who used a ladder to break into a home in White Marsh.

The robbery happened on the 1500-block of Brian Road on the night of May 16. The robber used a ladder that had been left unsecured on the homeowner's property to reach a window that had been left open, providing direct access.

A resident of the home actually encountered the burglar that night. The resident, a 14-year-old boy, came home at about 10:45 p.m. and saw a light in his mother's bedroom. He went to the room and found the burglar going through his mother's room. There was no one else in the house at the time and when the burglar saw the boy, he fled. The teenager locked himself in his own room and called 911. The suspect was out of the house by the time police arrived but got away with a video camera and cash.

The witness was able to provide investigators with a description of the suspect. He is described as a black male, 30-40 years old, 6'5" tall, weighing 250 pounds, with a large build. He has a medium complexion and short black hair. On the night of the crime he was wearing a black shirt and black pants.

Based on the witness description, a police forensic artist was able to draw a sketch of the suspect.

It is believed the suspect may be responsible for two other similar burglaries in the area. One shortly after midnight on May 7 in the 8100-block of Woodhaven Road, 21237, and another on May 9 at 3:30 a.m. in the 1800-block of Willann Road, 21237.

Investigators believe the man looks for homes that appear unoccupied, and breaks in, hoping he will not encounter anyone.
