Police Investigate Assault, Kidnapping In Timonium
TIMONIUM, Md. (WJZ) ―
Two teenagers are the victims of a shocking crime. They were abducted at gunpoint then one of them was sexually assaulted.
Suzanne Collins reports it all began late Friday night at the light rail station in Timonium. Now police are looking for the suspects.
The two 17-year-old victims were inside their car kissing when the two suspects, believed to be in their 20s, came up to the car armed with semi-automatic handguns.
The light rail station in Timonium is busy on weekdays, but not at 9:30 at night when two county teens decided to park there Friday.
Two men knocked on their window and abducted them. They became victims of a two-hour crime spree.
"These are two kids who are extremely traumatized, and we're just asking for cooperation from the public if they have heard anything," said Cpl. Mike Hill with Baltimore County Police.
The 17-year-old male teen was locked in the trunk. The car with the two suspects and the female victim stopped numerous places in the city and the county over the next two hours.
Police say the assailants took turns with the female victim in the back seat of the car fondling her. They also tried to use her ATM card. At their final destination, police say the girl was raped.
The teenagers were let go in Cherry Hill at the Cherry Hill Splash Park below the Hanover Street Bridge.
"After they were dropped off, they were able to flag down a Baltimore City officer as they were running away from the area. They're not familiar with that area whatsoever," said Cpl. Hill.
Riders of the light rail in Timonium say they're concerned about the violent crime.
"It's really sad. I feel sorry for these kids. I always park near a light just in case. So if I come back and it's dark out, it will be illuminated where I parked," said passenger Chris Williams.
"I work at night. I work from 12-9. It's scary," said Timi Brooks.
Police are looking for tips either at the light rail or the water park in Cherry Hill.
The MTA says it has turned its surveillance video over to county police to help with the investigation.
Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call Baltimore County Police at 410-307-2020 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7-LOCKUP (1-866-756-2587). Those calling Metro Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and might be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000.
