The U.S. Postal Service says it is closing an Allegany County post office to cut costs.
Spokeswoman Freda Sauter told the Cumberland Times-News Monday that the last day of retail service in Luke will be April 29.
After that, she says customers will have to travel about a mile to the Westernport post office or conduct business online at usps.com.
No jobs will be lost with the shutdown. The retail counter is staffed only two hours a day by workers from the Westernport office.
Sauter said the Postal Service must cut costs in response to a nearly 5 percent drop in mail volume last year.
