Two Prince George's County teenagers have been charged as adults with assault and other crimes after an encounter in which one of them was shot by police.
Police say the incident happened Friday morning after a man reported that his Toyota Camry had been stolen.
Officer First Class Nathaniel Lewis responded and tried to stop the suspect.
Police say 16-year-old Toddler Elijah Crestwell fled in the car and crashed into a guard rail on Indian Head Highway.
Police say Crestwell then jumped into a Toyota 4-Runner that pulled up, and the driver of the 4-Runner accelerated toward Lewis.
Officials say Lewis then fired his gun because he feared for his life.
Crestwell and 17-year-old Hakeem Settle were arrested later in Fairfax County.
Police say Crestwell was treated for gunshot wounds to the arm and hip. They say the teenagers had stolen both vehicles.
