Police Arrest Baltimore Co. Shooting Suspect

TOWSON, Md. (WJZ) ―

Baltimore County police have arrested a suspect in a domestic shooting in the Towson area.

Mike Schuh reports Jeffrey Alan Mewbourn, 46, has been arrested for the attempted murder of his 44-year-old girlfriend.

Police say Mewbourn shot his girlfriend at their apartment in the 1000-block of Halstead Road around 1 p.m.

Police responded to the apartment after a neighbor reported that a woman had been shot. When they arrived they found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to her shoulder. She was transported to Sinai Hospital by ambulance. Detectives have no motive at this time.

The victim advised police that she has two children who separately attend Halstead Academy School and Parkville High School. Both schools were put on lockdown as a precaution due to the shooting, and police have secured the two children.

"It's an inconvenience, but I say safety is first," said parent Robin Church.

The victim's injuries are not life threatening.
