An investigation continues into a police-involved shooting in Harford County that left one man dead.
Sally Thorner reports it all started with a 911 call from a home in Fallston with a report of a domestic disturbance around 4:30 a.m.
The shooting happened in the 2700-block of Lakeland Drive. Police say the homeowner's brother in-law, identified as 52-year-old John Abbate, arrived uninvited and kicked in the front door. He then threatened to kill the homeowner's wife.
When police arrived, Abbate became violent and police say he assaulted officers. A trooper and two Harford County sheriff's deputies were unable to subdue the man with physical force and batons. An officer used a stun gun, but Abbate removed the electric leads from his body. After he choked Trooper Sean Harris and tried to grab Harris' gun, officials say the trooper fired his gun.
Harris is now on both administrative leave. He is recovering from injuries to arms and legs.
