Federal authorities say a Silver Spring man has admitted shooting a teller in the hand during a robbery at a Howard County bank.
Anirudh Sukhu, 42, was charged Friday with armed bank robbery and ordered held until a detention hearing on Tuesday.
Court documents say Sukhu shot the Bank of America teller in the hand as Sukhu and two other men robbed the Clarksville branch on Thursday. The trio led police on a chase into the Burtonsville area of Montgomery County, where they bailed out.
Police say as officers tried to arrest Omar Burnett, 24, of Burtonsville, he fired at them and was fatally shot when they returned fire.
Sukhu was arrested later in Silver Spring and, according to court documents, told police he participated in the robbery and fired at the teller.
A third person is still being sought.
