Harford Deputy Fatally Shoots Knife-Wielding Man
BEL AIR, Md. (WJZ) ―
The Harford County Sheriff's office says a deputy shot and fatally wounded a knife-wielding man after responding to a domestic dispute call.
Officers were called to the 1000-block of Ellicott Drive in Bel Air. Police say when they arrived, Jason Lawrence, 23, threatened an officer with a knife.
The deputy drew his weapon and shot Lawrence in the chest.
He was taken to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The deputy is a five-year veteran and has been put on administrative leave, which is routine after a shooting.
