Truck Plunges Into Susquehanna After Brakes Fail

PORT DEPOSIT, Md. (AP) ― Port Deposit police say the brakes failed on a tractor-trailer hauling about 27,000 pounds of produce on a steep road and the truck plunged into the Susquehanna River.

It happened around 6:45 p.m. Thursday as the truck traveled south on Center Street.

The truck came to rest about 50 yards from the riverbank. The driver, 46-year-old Hyun Park of Cockeysville, was able to get out the window and was pulled on board a passing boat. Police say he was not injured.
