Wastewater Overflows Into Piscataway Creek
ACCOKEEK, Md. (AP) ―
Officials say heavy rains and a valve that accidentally opened contributed to a sewer overflow in Piscataway Creek.
The Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission says the overflow began about 6:10 a.m. Wednesday at the Piscataway wastewater treatment plant. Some 130,000 gallons of untreated, diluted wastewater went into the creek.
WSSC crews are cleaning up the area.
