Fmr. Pharmacist Gets 2 Years For Theft Of Drugs

WASHINGTON (AP) ―

The former chief pharmacist for St. Elizabeth's Hospital has been sentenced to two years in prison for stealing $95,000 of medication from the hospital.

Prosecutors say 48-year-old Raymond Jackson of Waldorf, Md., who pleaded guilty in January, sold the medications with his wife through a company they created.

The stolen drugs were mostly psychotropic medications and medications for hypertension, not controlled substances.

Brenda Jackson was sentenced in Prince George's County, Md., to six months for stealing medications from her workplace, Kaiser Permanente's pharmacies in Maryland.

Jackson, who was sentenced in U.S. District Court on Tuesday, must also serve 200 hours of community service during three years of supervised release and pay $95,000 in restitution to the District of Columbia and more than $55,000 to the Kaiser Foundation.
