PIKESVILLE, Md. (WJZ) ― Well, I never would have guessed it was a disgruntled neighbor, but police tell me that's the case.

The suspect may have been firing a device used to scare away birds. I'm glad that's all it is.

What an amazing turn of events to find out that in solving this mystery, police found what they say is evidence of other crimes. I'll certainly be following up to learn more of the specifics about how the case was solved and what exactly police found inside the suspect's home.

Interesting also to see how much media attention this story garnered. It was picked up today by the Drudge Report, countless websites, some national media and all of the other local media outlets in the area.

It looks like some of the people who wrote in to our station by email with their theories on what "it" was were pretty close. I appreciate all those comments.
