4 Dead In 2 Separate Crashes In Worcester Co.

OCEAN CITY, Md. (AP) ―

Authorities in Worcester County are reporting separate pedestrian accidents that both killed a mother and child.

The sheriff's office says a 20-year-old woman and her 4-year-old daughter were struck and killed about 10:30 p.m. Thursday night on U.S. Route 13 in Pocomoke City, near the Wal-Mart shopping center.

Authorities say Delia Bailey of Pocomoke City was carrying the girl across the highway, but was not in a crosswalk, when she was struck by a northbound vehicle.

The accident happened about six hours after a mother and her 2-year-old child were struck and killed by a Coast Guard sport utility vehicle on Coastal Highway in Ocean City.

Ocean City police say the woman was carrying her daughter in the crosswalk at 62nd Street when she was struck. Police say a preliminary police investigation showed that the woman crossed while traffic had the right of way.
