Oxon Hill High School Band To Travel To China

OXON HILL, Md. (AP) ―

Members of the Oxon Hill High School Band are rehearsing for their upcoming appearance on the world stage.

They will leave next month for China to perform in six concerts that are part of the preliminary events ahead of the 2008 Olympic Games in August.

The 45 band members and 10 alumni will visit Beijing, Shanghai and Xian. They will be accompanied by about 20 chaperones, a nurse and Prince George's County Council member Tony Knotts.

The band has spent more than a year raising funds for the trip, which will cost about $3,800 per person.
