Fans Head To Camden Yards For FanFest '08

BALTIMORE (WJZ) ― Before the O's hit the diamond at Camden Yards, they got a chance to meet the thousand of fans who will root for them this season.

Gigi Barnett reports Orioles' fans got the chance to meet their favorites from the past and present at FanFest 2008.

It's 10,000 strong.  The stadium was packed with dozens of Orioles and thousands of bird lovers.

The field at Camden Yards is ready to go and the kickoff to the Orioles season begins with FanFest 2008.

It's an invitation to spring.

As fans piled in, they were saying hello to Birdland.

Saturday's agenda consisted of free autographs, a chance to take a swing, and a snapshot for memories.

"I just like that you can actually see the baseball players and get their autographs," said Orioles fan Jason Scott.

The park's new scoreboard was in clear view.

"It's pretty neat. They did the demonstration already. It looked pretty good," said Troy Diehl, Orioles fan.

Another big draw to this year's FanFest was the 25th anniversary of the 1983 O's World Championship.

Fans had the chance to meet Mary Bubala, Don Scott, Ron Matz, Mark Viviano, Stan Saunders, Meteorologist Bernadette Woods and Meteorologist Tim Williams.

WJZ is also teaming up with MASN to bring you Orioles Opening Day 2008. Watch WJZ's special coverage beginning at 2 p.m. Monday, March 31 on WJZ-13.
