O'Malley Threat Suspect's Trial Is Delayed

TOWSON, Md. (AP) ―

Family members say the trial of a man accused of threatening Governor Martin O'Malley has been postponed until October.

Walter Abbott Jr., 44, of Parkville allegedly sent an e-mail to O'Malley threatening to "choke the life out of" him. His trial, which was set to begin Wednesday, will take place Oct. 20 in Baltimore County Circuit Court, The (Baltimore) Examiner reported.

Abbott was arrested in March, hours after state police say he sent an e-mail to the governor's official Web site threatening him with strangulation. He is charged with threatening a public official and conveying a threat.

Police say Abbott disagreed with the governor's position on immigration.
