Woman Indicted On Manslaughter Charge In Crash

BALTIMORE (AP) ― A woman who allegedly struck and killed a Maryland Transportation Authority Department police officer on New Year's Eve was indicted on charges of auto manslaughter and driving under the influence of alcohol.

The city state's attorney's office said Kerri J. King, 35, of Elkton, was also indicted Wednesday on a charge of leaving the scene of an accident.

Police said King owned the SUV that struck and killed Officer Courtney Brooks, 40. He was killed while working a traffic detail on Interstate 95.

King faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison on the manslaughter charge.

Arraignment is set for May 19.
