Troop 328 Raises Funds For Slain Browning Family

TOWSON, Md. (WJZ) ― One Baltimore community is still mourning the loss of a family killed.

In February, a Baltimore County family was murdered by their 16-year-old son.

Jessica Kartalija reports those who knew the Browning family are raising money for a foundation in their name.

It was busier than usual on Saturday afternoon at Pickles and Chips Deli in Towson.

Many came out not just with their hunger but a sense of good will.

A portion of this weekend's sales will go to a foundation for the slain Browning family.

"In memory of John, Tammy, Greg, and Ben Browning, Troop 328 is establishing the Browning Family Foundation which is to be a lasting entity to benefit not only the troop but other outdoor organizations in general," said Scout Master Jim Rafferty.

The fundraiser is through Boy Scout Troop 328 where John Browning once stood as scoutmaster and where his boys were deeply involved.

Shockingly it is the oldest boy, 16-year-old Nicholas Browning, who stands accused of killing John, his mother Tammy and brothers Greg and Ben inside their Cockeysville home in February.

The killings have left many looking for answers.

For Troop 328, they can find at least one solution by turning the horrific tragedy into a lasting legacy for the Brownings and what they loved.

"That money will be invested and will grow over time, and hopefully it can be an ongoing thing that can benefit not just our troop but other scouting organizations, sports-based organizations, or anything to do with the outdoors," said Rafferty.

Baltimore County police have charged Nicholas Browning with first-degree murder in the deaths of his four family members.
