Md. Farm Owner Plans Pig Mud Wrestling Event

UPPERCO, Md. (WJZ) ― An Upperco farmer is buried mud deep, in a controversy with Baltimore County health officials.

Stan Dabkowski, whose Spring Meadow Farm has provided lots of animals and fun things to do for children for the past 25 years, is introducing pig mud wrestling Saturday night.

He tells Richard Sher, "Our business is off 12 percent while expenses are up almost 20. We're hoping this new attraction helps."

The health department says, "We are concerned about the welfare of the pigs and the safety of the participants. The county code prohibits causing combat between animals and humans."

Dabkowski says it's just clean farm fun and he's going to make sure none of the pigs are injured.

There will be Baltimore County animal control officers watching the events and if any violations are seen, Dabkowski faces fines.

"I'm not going to allow abuse of any kind. I think the pigs are going to have fun," said Dabkowski.

If the county determined there are no volitions, the pig mud wrestling will continue Saturdays through October.
