Corporations Cash In On Swimming Sensation Phelps

BALTIMORE (WJZ) ― It's been announced that Michael Phelps has gotten a $1.6 million advance to write a book called "Built to Succeed."

As Mike Schuh reports, it's all part of corporations cashing in on the swimming sensation from Rodgers Forge.

After returning from China via London, Phelps did the morning shows. He got questions about a girlfriend.

"Everything I do is public.  I try to keep something for my private life," said Phelps.

Right now, Michael has the most popular page on Facebook.

When in New York Thursday, he stopped by the YMCA and got into the pool for the first time since Beijing.

He shot a guest appearance on his favorite TV show, HBO's "Entourage."

He also arrived in the Magic Kingdom and spent some time with Mickey.  Phelps was the grand marshal of the daily Disney parade.

Phelps is in great demand. He's connecting with America and making the locals happy.

"He's a hometown boy, so wish him luck," said Dennis Hood.

"I wish I would be him right now," said Chung Dang.

In the meantime, the busy Phelps looks four years in the future to London.

Baltimore County officials are still trying to work out details of a parade in Towson to honor Phelps.
