Baltimore Comedienne Makes Name For Herself
BALTIMORE (WJZ) ―
Meshelle, Baltimore's 30-something comedienne, is making a name for herself.
When Eyewitness News first met her 15 months ago, Meshelle was one of 10 national finalists for "Funniest Mother in the Country."
Since then, she has had a son, now 1-year old, Mosiah. Meshelle and her husband, Lamarr Shields also have 4- and 6-year-old daughters.
"I'm very busy now, making DVDs, writing for Heart and Soul Magazine, hosting Martin Lawrence's last showcase for the Starz network and playing clubs from New York to Los Angeles," she told Richard Sher.
Meshelle laughs about motherhood, religion, white versus African- American mothers, politics and other current subjects.
Her husband Lamarr is president of the Urban Leadership Institute in Baltimore, and is on the staff of the Center for Violence Prevention at Johns Hopkins University.
"As Meshelle grows, so do I and so many of the young people with whom I work like knowing someone who is close to somebody in show business," he said.
