Lawmakers are concerned that part of a review of Maryland's Medevac helicopter program will be conducted behind closed doors.
The Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems has approved a panel that will conduct a review next week.
Jim Brown, spokesman for the systems, says the panel asked for the afternoon work session so it could immediately draft its report. He says no new information will be presented to the panel out of the public view.
But Deputy Majority Leader Dan Morhaim says the meeting should be open because the panel is dealing with a major public safety issue.
The review comes after the crash Sept. 27 of a Maryland State Police Medevac helicopter that killed all three crew members and a patient and seriously injured a second patient.
